Breaking Cat News, a comic that tries to play out our fascination with cat memes, videos, photos, and – well – the habits of the animals themselves, is today included in the News & Record comic book series.

Created and drawn by Georgia Dunn, this comic appears on page B9 and appears daily and Sundays.

The strip is based on Dunn’s real cats Elvis, Lupine and Puck. The storylines are presented on television news.

Dunn independently published the comic on the GoComics website in 2014. According to Andrews McMeel Syndication, its distributor, it quickly became popular, generating 100,000 page views per month.

This syndicate released its first collection in 2016, and the book has proven to be a top seller on Amazon.

“Sometimes a new comic comes out that seems to be well connected to public habits, and it certainly is,” said Steven Doyle, Managing Editor of News & Record. “We see so many cat posts on social media and how popular – sometimes viral – they have become.

“This strip picks up this phenomenon and projects it through the interesting lens of a news program that adds a strong element of satire. We believe our readers will enjoy it. “

Dunn is a classic illustrator whose work has been published in various locations. She is from Rhode Island and graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 2004. She lives in Seattle with her husband and two children.
