Dog news: puppy abandoned on his own in plastic box – RSPCA investigating | UK | News

The puppy, believed to be only six weeks old, was found by a shocked handler in Feltham, west London, on Saturday. The black and tan puppy was “freezing cold” and very sick when he was discovered in the clear plastic box on a green space on Hatton Road.

The helpless animal was taken to the vets, but they were unable to save it.

The RSPCA has opened an investigation and is encouraging anyone with information to contact it.

RSPCA inspector Nicole Broster said, “This is such a tragic incident and it broke my heart that such a small puppy had suffered so much and knew that he was left all alone when he needed help so badly.

“The walker described him as ‘freezing’ when he found him, and when he was examined by vets it was clear that he was thin and had conjunctivitis so severe that he could not open his eyes.

“He was also so weak and subdued that he could neither eat nor take more than a few steps.

“Giving up every animal is cruel and completely unnecessary, we don’t know how long the puppy was left in the box in the cold in the bushes and exposed to all possible dangers.

“It is possible that someone left him because he was so bad and he could be a by-product of the cruel puppy trade.

“It’s unbelievable that someone left him in these bushes and walked away.”

“Because of their actions, he was treated with love and dignity in his last days and got every chance to assert himself.

“It’s always incredibly annoying for us when an animal doesn’t make it.”
