Meghan Markle’s rescue dog Guy the Beagle, seen through a window of Queen Elizabeth’s motorcade on his way to the royal wedding, is a Kentucker. He was found in the forest and taken to a shelter in the Commonwealth. Markle saw him at an adoption event after being brought to Canada by A Dog’s Dream Rescue. He is now receiving full royal treatment. A little bluegrass beagle made its way across the pond and into the royal family.

Saturday June 2nd

Come to Feeders Supply on Richmond Road at 11am every first Saturday of the month to meet the adoptable Greyhounds of Bluegrass Greyhound Adoption.

Monday 4th June

Feeders Supply offers dog training courses that can help your pet learn basic dog manners. The registration dates for the sessions are June 4th, 6th, 7th and 9th. Each session lasts 6 weeks, with each class lasting approximately one hour at all participating Feeders Supply locations.

Saturday June 9th

The Lexington Humane Society presents the Mutt Strut 2018 on June 9th in Keeneland. Grab your tennis shoes and your four-legged friend for a 1-mile fun walk or, new this year, the Mutt Strut 5K. The festivities begin at 8:00 a.m., the Mutt Strut 5K begins at 9:00 a.m., and the fun walk begins shortly thereafter. There will be local vendors before and after the run / walk, so come early and stay long to support the animals at the LHS.

Lee Asher from Asher House will be at Mutt Strut after the party. After the run, from noon to 2pm, head to the Lexington Humane Main Adoption Center to visit Lee Asher and his six rescued dogs. The Asher Housed went on a US mission to find homes for 48 dogs in 48 states

Thursday June 14th

Bark your calendar to join other dogs and their companions at Ashland, The Henry Clay Estate for a sniff and cuddle at Yappy Hour from 5pm to 7pm. Dogs on a leash enjoy libations and treats, while humans can mingle over a glass of wine or brew.

Bring your four-legged, furry canine friend to see Lexington Legends play the Columbia Fireflies for Pepsi Bark in the Park on June 14th. The first pitch is at 7:05 p.m.

Saturday June 16

The first annual Fido Fest takes place on Saturday, June 16, at the Summit from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. It’s an evening celebrating fluffy friends of the Lexington Humane Society. Enjoy a pet selfie station, children’s activities, food and beverage vendors, pop-up shops for retailers, and live entertainment from Bent Penny Band and KISSFMLex.

Thursday June 21st

Bring your four-legged, furry canine friend to play the Charleston RiverDogs for Pepsi Bark in the Park Lexington Legends on June 21st. The first pitch is at 7:05 p.m.

Friday June 29th

The Brighton Animal Clinic is hosting a cat-friendly Friday on June 29th. Enjoy a low-stress, kitten-centered environment and a discounted visit if you schedule an appointment in advance. Valid for clinic appointments, home visits, and surgical or dental interventions.
