Animal Services announces Home for the Holidays campaign

LARGO – Pinellas County Animal Services aims to make the holidays a little brighter for dogs in need of a good home this season with Home for the Holidays. This program allows residents to care for dogs for two nights in the hopes that they will find the perfect solution for their family. The campaign started on December 1st and runs until December 21st.

Home for the Holidays is only available to large breed adult dogs, with an emphasis on dogs that have been with Animal Services for more than 100 days. If the fit is not perfect after two nights, the house still offers the pet a comfortable break.

Those interested in adopting an Animal Services pet this holiday season can do so for $ 5 for all cats and kittens, $ 25 for large adult dogs, and $ 75 for small breeds and puppies. The adoption center is open every evening until 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., but is closed on Monday, December 24th and Tuesday, December 25th.

Anyone interested in adoption or training and interested in funding should call the Pinellas County Animal Services Adoption Coordinator at 727-582-2600, Option 8, and schedule a pickup appointment.

Doug Brightwell, director of Pinellas County Animal Services, warns that not everyone should adopt a pet on vacation. Adopting parents should make a commitment to provide a forever home for a new furry family member. Animals are not good gift ideas either, and those looking to offer someone a new pet can purchase a gift certificate from Animal Services. This enables the future pet owner to make an informed decision and find the perfect match.
