Pinellas Pet News: Southeastern Guide Dogs to present Superheroes on Parade | Pets

ST. PETERSBURG – Southeastern Guide Dogs launches the third season of Superheroes on Parade, a creative collaboration of sponsors and artists that will showcase a new crop of creatively painted dog sculptures in Tampa, St. Petersburg and Sarasota.

This unique, quirky, dog-centric fundraiser raises awareness of Southeastern Guide Dogs’ life changing programs that benefit the inspiring people and superhero dogs who advance our mission.

A unveiling event will take place on Wednesday, September 12th from 7pm to 9pm at the Dali Museum, One Dali Blvd., St. Petersburg.

Sponsors and artists will present the first series of 14 new superheroes: four life-size dogs, six puppies and four relief sculptures.

The sculptures are modeled on the real superheroes of the Southeastern Guide Dogs: the Labrador Retrievers, Golden Retrievers and Goldadors, who were born, raised and trained on the Southeastern Guide Dogs campus in Palmetto.

The public is invited to take part in an online competition to vote for their favorite sculpture. The campaign will culminate on April 4, 2019 at the Art Ovation Hotel with an awards ceremony on the red carpet.

Southeastern Guide Dogs is life changing by creating and nurturing extraordinary relationships between humans and dogs. The organization employs some of the most talented and innovative scientists and trainers in the working dog industry and operates the most advanced training facilities of any service dog organization in the world. Their experts train guide dogs, assistance dogs, and assistance dogs for people with significant challenges, including people with visual impairments and veterans with disabilities.
